Prop. 29: Copyright law

"When posting an idea for a proposition in the brainstorming thread, a player may post Copyright before their idea. Any player that proposes a prop. copyrighted by another player loses 4 points. Additionaly if the prop passes, the 2 points are split between the owner of the copyright and the player that posted it."

I would also like to amend this to include some sort of arbitration clause for matters of "it's not the same rule, I changed words, blah blah blah"

Suggetions?

I believe the phrase "to the spirit of the law and not merely the letter" works.

If one of these cases ever came up, we'd need to have a judge ready to deliver an indisputable verdict. I can forsee some ambiguity in the law here...

Vote: Yes because I believe in this, but I'd like to see a judicial position to make sure things are resolved as intended.

Well, if it passes, we can ammend it to allow for the nomination of a judge. But what about if the judge is the one involved in the dispute? Maybe we need a judge and a... vice judge? Or we could have an arbitrater picked randomly when one is needed.

I'd like it to have to do with Silver coins aswell maybe make them pay a fine to the person who copyrighted it.

I was thinking this, but i wanted to make sure i wasnt being too severe, probably just award the coins from the prop. the the copyright holder.

No, that isn't what he's saying. If another player proposes the copyrighted idea, that player loses points. Correct me if I am wrong OP.

yeah you only lose points if you post an idea copyrighted by another player.

You misread it. Are you familiar with copyright laws? Basically, this is to keep people from benefitting by stealing another person's idea.

Any arbitration clause would give the arbitrators power to effectively take points from successful laws and reward them to their cronies, even if there was no copyright infringement. And then we would have appeal committees and appeal-appeal committees, each slicing the reward for successful laws between themselves.

Arbitrators would be nominated then elected. Also, I belive mokina is drawing up the prop and they are also allowed to be impeached. Any funny buisness and we can motion the impeach and elect a new judge.
