Rule Proposition Eighteen
Players gain one point if they vote with the majority at then end of the voting period.
This is designed to encourage voting, while not encouraging the destruction of good propositions. This also encourages compromise.

Vote NAY. This has already been defeated, if I remember correctly. I still don't like it.

Re: Rule Proposition Eighteen
People will just switch their votes to the majority. This is silly, possibly even more so than Rule 4.

Re: Rule Proposition Eighteen
Vote Yes
I think this is a worthwhile endeavor. It does exactly what Lord Gurgi intended it to do, and it is not the same as Rule 4. Anyway, Silver Coins seem to be outdating Points.
Anyway, what are we doing now? It seems like we are just agreeing with the first few people who vote and not thinking for ourselves.

Rewarding voting seems like a good idea.
Rewarding majority bandwagoning seems like a bad idea.
Rewarding opportunistic downvoting of good policies is a horrible idea.
This presents a dilemma.
Personally, I think that if we reward anything it should be the act of voting itself. The actual choice should be independent of income.

Re: Rule Proposition Eighteen
I disagree. Yes, voting is good, but recent activity suggest people like to go with the flow, unless the topic is particularly controversial. I belive this was mentioned elsewhere as well, that people seem to be all right saying "I agree with Yosarian2, and vote with him". Being rewarded to vote will only further encourage this "Sheeple" mentality.Mokina wrote:Personally, I think that if we reward anything it should be the act of voting itself. I'm voting against this proposal, you know, exactly for that reason.
I would rather have something that encouraged people to vote. Yes, no, or abstain, and you'd be paid no matter what. I can only hope it would encourage people to think for themselves.
Of course, I'd be fine with no payment as well, but a majority/minority bribe doesn't seem like the way to go.
